The US Drug Fighting Administration (DEA) said on Sunday (27) that, during a federal hit in a colorado night club, agents arrested more than 100 immigrants that the agency claims to be illegally present in the US.
The operation was one of the largest in number of arrests since President Donald Trump took office on January 20. Trump promised to deport immigrants who are in the US illegally and have made it an emblematic issue of their presidency.
Dea reported that 114 people were arrested and placed on buses for processing and likely deportation. He added that the nightclub had over 200 people inside and 114 of them were in the US illegally.
“This morning (Dea) arrested more than 100 illegal foreigners in a clandestine nightclub frequented by TDA and MS-13 terrorists. Cocaine, methamphetamine and pink cocaine were seized. Two people were also arrested for existing warrants,” said US Secretary Pam Bondi, X.
The Bondi post did not directly inform if the prisoners were part of the Venezuelan gang Tren from Aragua and another Salvadorenha gang, the MS-13.
The DEA said separately that “the occupants of the illegal clandestine nightclub in Colorado Springs received several warnings to leave.”
US agencies have intensified inspection actions since Trump took office.
A day earlier, the US immigration and customs agency said Florida’s agency and state authorities arrested about 800 people who were illegally in the US over four days, and it called “massive repression and immigration supervision multiagencies.”
