USA: Pranks about placing bombs in Manhattan synagogues

At least four synagogues in Manhattan were the targets of bomb threats Saturday, but none were considered serious by the New York Police Department (NYPD), a city official in the American metropolis said. Mark Levine, a municipal official in the Manhattan borough, emphasized through X that it was “clearly a hate crime” and that the purpose is to instill fear in the Jewish community of New York, stressing that Jewish institutions are increasingly becoming “targets”. The attempt to intimidate the Israeli community “cannot be accepted,” he added. The New York Post reported that worshipers at two Manhattan synagogues had to be rushed out of their places of worship because of the threats. The Democratic governor of the state of New York, Kathy Hokul, emphasized through X that the authorities are “actively monitoring” threats to plant bombs in synagogues, adding “we will not tolerate (…) some sowing fear and anti-Semitism” and judging that “those responsible must be held accountable”.
