Usa, President Biden signs the law that protects gay marriages

What hasn’t been done to abortion rights in decades has come to gay marriage in the United States. President Joe Biden signed a law that will federally protect same-sex marriages. Is called Respect for Marriage Act, law on respect for marriage, and has already been approved by both the House and the Senate. The bill came from the Democratic side, but also had the support of the Republicans. For the community Lgbtqi+ it is a great achievement.

Same-sex marriages are already legal in the United States, across the country after the judgment of 2015 of the Supreme Court which made all the laws that prohibited them in the individual states unconstitutional. Under the new law, any marriage legally celebrated in the United States must be recognized in every state. The law is a form of legal coverage and security in case the Supreme Court can overturn, as happened for the abortion (the annulment of the effects of the Roe v. Wade ruling of 1973), the 2015 ruling. the June decision made it clear in the US that laws are needed at the federal level to protect rights, sentences are not enough.

This rule originates from a compromise on religious freedom. Churches that refuse to do so are guaranteed the right not to perform gay marriages. Opposing states may not issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, but will have to recognize gay marriages performed elsewhere. There can be no discrimination for couples.
