US National Security Spokesman John Kirby announced that Mr Vladimir Putin wants to send foods to Kim Jong Unso that Russia receives arms from North Korea to be used in Ukraine.
In accordance with bbc.com, Kirby stated that Moscow will send a special delegation to Pyongyang so that they can reach a relevant agreement. However, such a thing would mean that in violation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
“We understand that Russia is seeking to send a delegation to North Korea and that Russia is offering North Korea food in exchange for ammunition,” he said.
It is noted that based on the British publication North Korea is one of the poorest countries in the world and has experienced chronic food shortages for decades, including a devastating famine in the mid-to-late 1990s.
In February, experts warned that the country was facing a critical food crisis due to a significant drop in production, exacerbated by bad weather, tight border controls and the impact of international sanctions.
Satellite images from South Korean authorities show the North produced 180,000 tonnes less food in 2022 than in 2021.
