A record 510,000 SARS-CoV-2 cases were recorded in the United States in the 24 hours the day before Monday, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
512,553 infections were confirmed by the new coronavirus and 1,762 deaths were found due to complications of COVID-19 throughout the country within this 24 hour period. This number of cases is a national and world tragic record since the outbreak of the pandemic in the United States.
According to data compiled by the University of Baltimore, more than 10,000 deaths and nearly 1.66 million infections were added to the pandemic report last week.
The weekly rolling average of cases confirmed on a daily basis exceeded 206,000 on Sunday, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in other words it is at its highest level since January 18.
The U.S. counts more than 819,000 deaths from COVID-19 out of a total of 52.9 million SARS-CoV-2 infections to date, according to real-time Johns Hopkins figures. This is the heaviest death toll in the world in absolute terms.
