The United States have reported the first outbreak since 2017 of the deadly H7N9 Avian flu. The cases were identified in a poultry farm, while the country continues to fight another aviary strain that infected humans and caused egg prices to reach records.
The spread of avian influenza, usually called avian flu, devastated herds around the world, interrupting supply and increasing food prices.
Infected mammals, including US-let cows, raised concerns among governments about the risk of a new pandemic.
The strain that has caused more poultry damage in recent years and the death of a person in the US is H5N1.
But the H7N9 Avian flu virus proved to have a much higher mortality rate, killing almost 40% of infected humans since it was first detected in 2013, according to the World Health Organization.
H7N9’s last outbreak was detected at a 47,654 trade chickens in Noxubee, Mississippi, the World Animal Health Organization, based in Paris, said in a report on Monday (17), citing US officials.
