USA: Shots with a dead man on a Louisiana campus

Shots at the University of Louisiana on USA with one dead and seven injured, state police announced, a few days after similar incidents with also a dead man at the same higher education institution.

Only one of the victims of the new shootout, which unfolded overnight Saturday through Sunday (17/10), attends Grambling State University, said Louisiana police, who also spoke of another seriously injured man.

The university posted a statement on its Twitter account (@ Grambling1901) confirming that its student was “receiving care” for his injuries, which, however, “did not endanger his life”. He clarified that the man who was killed was not a registered student.

This is second fatal episode in less time of one week on campus, as reported by APE-MPE. The two incidents, however, according to the police, there is not the slightest indication that they are connected. It was proclaimed night traffic ban on campus until further notice, it is emphasized in the announcement of the rector, while it is announced that the annual match of American football is traditionally canceled, which traditionally takes place during holidays and classes today, Monday and tomorrow, Tuesday.

Addressing the students and its staff, the university called on everyone to “unite” and “comfort each other”, as well as not to spread rumors or false news about the research. “Louisiana State Police are calling for help to locate the suspect or suspects,” she said via Facebook. “Any information, even the smallest detail, can be valuable in this research,” he added.

Police also released the name and a photo of the main suspect – an 18-year-old African-American – for the previous incident with the use of firearms, four days earlier, which the authorities do not consider to be related to that of Saturday to Sunday.

A 19-year-old was killed and a 16-year-old was injured in the incident on Wednesday, October 13, according to police.
