USA: What N. Panagiotopoulos said at an AHEPA conference

The keynote speaker at the AHERA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) conference in Orlando, Florida was the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Panagiotopoulos.

As announced, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the historic expatriate organization was celebrated during the conference, with a major national contribution. The conference was also addressed by the Most Reverend Archbishop of America, Elpidophoros, the congressman (US Congressman, Florida 12th Congressional District) Gus Bilirakis and the supreme president of AHEPA, Jimmy Kokotas.

During his speech, N. Panagiotopoulos highlighted the importance of the organization’s work, over time, for the promotion of national issues, stressing that Omogenia offers important services to our country in dealing with threats and challenges and at the same time constitutes the most valuable capital and invaluable factor of strength and security for our nation.

Speaking about the work that is being carried out, based on the directions of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, at the Ministry of National Defense, he emphasized the importance given to further strengthening the deterrent capacity and shielding the country against any threat. Characteristically, N. Panagiotopoulos emphasized that “Greece does not threaten and is not threatened”.

He also referred to Turkey’s provocative and illegal actions, in violation of International Law, underscoring its destabilizing role in the Eastern Mediterranean and beyond.

Regarding Greece-US relations, he emphasized that they are at an extremely high level, and the strategic defense relationship contributes substantially to the security and stability of the region, highlighting in particular the key role of the Port of Alexandroupolis in the context of the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement.
