Speaking about US diplomacy in the war in Ukraine, White House National Security Counselor Mike Waltz said the secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Mark Rutte, will come to a meeting next week.
“The president had several conversations and a visit by President Macron of France, UK Prime Minister Stamer, we have NATO Secretary-General coming next week, we have this meeting with the Ukrainians, we had with the Russians, all in the president’s first month of leadership. Let’s get involved in shuttle diplomacy, ”Waltz said at the Oval Hall.
The vistist occurs amid a moment of covenant weakening, in which Trump threatens not to protect other NATO member countries if they do not pay the “fair part.”
“They are my friends, but if the United States were in trouble, and we called them…. We said: We have a problem, France. We have a problem, some others that I will not mention, ”said Trump on another occasion. “Do you think they will come and protect us? Hmm. They should. I am not so sure. ”
“I see NATO as potentially good, but you have to have, you have to have a good thinking at NATO. It is very unfair what is happening, ”he added.
