Scammers targeted one of the greatest track and field athletes of all time, Usain Bolt resulting in millions of dollars flying out of his account. Nugent Walker’s manager told the Gleaner newspaper that the case of fraud at investment company Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL) is being investigated by Jamaica’s financial investigations department and the Financial Services Commission as reported by the Guardian.
“All relevant measures have been taken to get to the bottom of the thread. He has been a client for over 10 years and his entire portfolio is being looked at,” said Walker, adding that due to the ongoing investigation cannot disclose the amounts stolen.
According to the newspaper, an employee of the company is allegedly involved in the fraud ring. Bolt, who retired from racing in 2017, still has several lucrative sponsorship deals. In fact, in 2016 alone he won 33 million dollars.
