The use of 5G in coastal regions of São Paulo showed a significant increase since early summer in December 2024, according to data collected by a new survey by a telecommunications company.

The intense flow of tourists on state beaches between December 2024 and January 2025 even boosted the use of 5G by up to 130% .

According to information from TIM in the period, the cities of Santos and Guarujá registered increases of 26% and 25% in total traffic respectively. The beaches of Boqueirão, in Praia Grande, and Maresias also observed a significant growth, with 90% and 70% in this order.

The most significant increase was Peruíbe, which grew 130% in data traffic.

In total, Santos, Praia Grande and Guarujá accounted for 56% of all 5g traffic on the coast of São Paulo .

The highest peak time of using 5G was between 12h and 13h.

“The demand for connectivity on the beaches of the coast of São Paulo grows every season, driven by increased tourism. The significant growth of the use of 5G at this time may reflect a change in the habit of tourists, who want to always be connected, either to share moments, access digital services or even work remotely, ”explains Fernando Sartori, manager of the São Paulo Tim Network, in a statement sent to CNN .

According to him, the company works to expand and modernize its 5G infrastructure in the large increase regions, in order to ensure quality and high speed.
