Utah Monolith: Did an artist collective claim the installation?

The aliens would ultimately have nothing to do with it. A collective of artists based in New Mexico would have claimed, according to Mashable, its responsibility in the case of the mysterious monolith of Utah which makes speak so much in the four corners of the world since its discovery. And other monoliths that followed. These findings have gone viral on social media, with many noting similarities to the bizarre alien monoliths greatly accelerating humanity’s progress in the sci-fi classic 2001, a space odyssey, a film by Stanley Kubrick and a novel by Arthur C. Clarke. These sparkling structures then disappeared as mysteriously as they had appeared.

On Instagram, the collective called The Most Famous Artist published an image of the monolith offering it for sale for $ 45,000 (37,000 euros). On December 4, the collective increased the number of publications offering this sculpture for sale with “authentic dimensions and museum-quality materials”. It will take 4 to 6 weeks for the sculpture enthusiast to receive the work. As proof, a photo of an artist working on a monolith similar to the one found in Utah was published.

“The monolith is out of our control at this point”

In total, according to Mashable, the collective let it be known that it would be behind the appearance, and the disappearance, of four monoliths. The most recent, which appeared in the United Kingdom, is not their own making, according to them. “The monolith is out of our control at this point. Good luck to all the aliens working hard around the world to spread the myth, ”one of the group’s Instagram posts read.

However, the founder of the collective, Matty Mo, seems to persist in casting doubt on the possible responsibility of his group in this affair. Asked by Mashable, the artist said he could neither confirm nor deny being behind the installation of these monoliths. “I can not say much because of the legal questions concerning the original installation,” he tempers and to the site. But, new answers should soon be unveiled in this case: after insisting that he would only speak to radio host Joe Rogan, the collective The Most Famous Artist posted, in a final message on Instagram, that Matty Mo would give a live interview on the social network about these monoliths, on the night of Monday December 7 to Tuesday December 8, French time.

As a reminder, the man had made himself famous by managing to transform the famous letters “HOLLYWOOD” in California to divert them into “HOLLYWEED”, a play on words with “weed” which means “grass” in English.
