The National Agency for Advanced Projects (NAPP) issued licenses, specifying that the companies are not the first registered providers of cryptocurrencies in the country. The government-controlled Uznex crypto exchange is already operating in Uzbekistan, and the two licensed companies will operate as digital asset exchanges or “crypto shops,” as defined in the regulations.
“It should be emphasized that Crypto Trade NET LLC and Crypto Market LLC became the first crypto stores in the CIS and Central Asia,” the regulator said in a statement.
According to the legislation, crypto-shops are designed to facilitate citizens’ access to buying and selling crypto-assets.
Recently, lawyers from the Digital Rights Center (DCR), who protect the rights of Bits Media, managed to negotiate with the NAPP to unblock the BestChange cryptocurrency aggregator in Uzbekistan.
