Agency representatives analyzed the activities of service providers in the field of crypto-asset turnover, in particular crypto exchanges and exchangers. The results of studying the work of exchanges and exchangers showed their profitability.
In this regard, in order to ensure the receipt of additional funds into the state budget, by order of the Director of the Agency dated March 5, 2024, changes were made to the Regulations on establishing the amount of fees for carrying out activities in the field of circulation of crypto-assets, the procedure for their payment and distribution.
For exchanges, the amount of mandatory monthly fees was increased from 400 basic units of account (BCU) to 740 BCU (251.6 million soums or $20,015), for exchangers, which in the law are called “cryptocurrency stores” – from 20 BCU to 185 BCU (62. 9 million soums or $5,000).
According to the NAPP, the changes made will double the state budget revenues and will not have a negative impact on the financial position of service providers. The changes will take effect in 3 months.
Earlier, the authorities of Uzbekistan tightened control in the field of cryptocurrencies – the country introduced criminal liability for illegal mining and illegal trafficking of cryptoassets.
