Hundreds Afghans soldiers arrived by air at Uzbekistan with 22 military aircraft and 24 helicopters last weekend, including one that collided with an Uzbek escort fighter jet they both crash, Uzbekistan announced tonight.
The Uzbek Ministry of Defense earlier announced that an Afghan fighter was shot down and crashed after passing through Uzbek airspace.
The planes “illegally crossed the airspace of the Republic of Uzbekistan” and were forced to land at the international airport of Termez, in the south, the Attorney General clarified in a message to Telegram, according to the APE BPE.
In total 585 Afghan soldiers arrived by plane in Uzbekistan while 158 crossed the (land) border on Sunday, the office of the country’s attorney general added.
