The plans for increasing the destinations in Greece and the number of visitors were presented by the CEO of the German interest group DER Touristik, Soren Hartman in a teleconference held today with the Minister of Tourism, Vassilis Kikilias.
The group, which in 2021 showed an increase of 16% compared to 2019 in the number of visitors brought to Greece, aspires in 2022 to show a further increase of 20% in order to attract a total of 1.2 million visitors from all markets in Greece, of which 500,000 from the German market.
During the meeting it was agreed to place further emphasis on attracting through and advertising in October, November and December, which will contribute to the extension of the tourist season.
Der Touristik Group is the tourist arm of the German giant REWE with a turnover of close to 75 billion euros, consists of dozens of companies in Central and Western Europe and has acquired, among others, the Tour Operator “Apollo” which specializes in Greece for Scandinavian markets.
Mr. Kikilias noted that “we work methodically to illuminate more destinations, to extend the period, to improve the economic size of the country, to produce value for the average Greek family.”
