V. Kikilias: I will suggest to the committee to consider the relaxation of the health protocols for conference tourism

“Next week I will suggest to the Committee of Experts the adaptation of the health protocols for conference tourism.” This was stated by the Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias in a morning show of Antenna and added the following:

“I will ask the Commission and the experts to decide where we can relax the protocols, so that Greece can be a pioneer in the resumption of conference tourism.”

Focusing on the new tourist year, the Minister pointed out that forecasts for 2022 are such that, to a certain extent, they can be a countermeasure and embankment in this global energy crisis.

“We must be ready on March 1 – We are working for a high level of Tourism that will” return “income to the average Greek family”, he pointed out, among other things.

In his speech, the Minister also addressed the issue of violence in stadiums, after the recent incident that led to the death of a young man, saying the following:

Government, parties, administrations of federations and associations, to be locked in a hotel and take decisions that will be implemented in full, through a “gentlemen’s agreement”.

Sport is joy and happiness. We want to see full stadiums, families on the pitch and happy people, like in the Champions League and NBA stadiums.

An age-old problem is the underground passages between criminals, gangsters, and other “people of the night” with a small minority of fans or clubs or associations.

This has been done with the tolerance of the State, even worse with the tolerance of the administrations of PAE or KAE, and of course of the competent bodies that have administered the Greek football, the Greek basketball.

Such a problem is not solved at the level of the Ministry of Sports. It takes political will from everyone. Not only from the government, from all the parties of the democratic arc, the administrations of Greek football, basketball, professional sports and from the strong men of KAE and PAE.

All of them have to go to a hotel, to a conference center, make decisions, make a “gentlemen’s agreement” and all that will be said to be implemented in full.

As a former athlete, having also worn the coat of arms of the National Team, I believe that the average Greek family wants to go to the stadium. “This should be the beacon for how the organized State should proceed and these initiatives will be taken by the Greek government,” he said.
