V. Kikilias: The catalyst for the acceleration of the Greek economy is tourism

The catalyst for the acceleration of the Greek economy is tourism, the Minister of Tourism, Vassilis Kikilias, stressed in a statement to APE-MPE, and underlines that, according to the official data of ELSTAT, the country’s GDP for the third quarter of 2021 presented increase of 13.4% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2020.

Referring to the course of revenues, Mr. Kikilias states that the year has not been completed yet and revenues from tourism have exceeded 10 billion euros, ie 5 billion more than the initial expectations.

The message of security and trust sent by our country, through the observance of health protocols, the support of the tourism industry by the Greek government and the excellent cooperation of all tourism agencies have yielded and continue to deliver, the Minister said and added the following :

“The agreements we are already concluding, but also the development of new forms of tourism in our country that enhance our tourism product, make us optimistic about 2022. With hard work and a national strategy for tourism, despite the adversity, we will create even greater added value, with more income, new jobs and prosperity for the average Greek family. ”
