V. Kikilias: Thessaloniki gives a resounding and strong message of tourist development

The Minister of Tourism, Vassilis Kikilias, was in Thessaloniki, where he went on the occasion of the inauguration of the “Nikos Kourkoulos” Day Care Unit of Theageniou Cancer Hospital.

In his statements, he stressed that “after the announcements of OLTH for the almost tripling for 2022 of the cruise routes from the port of Thessaloniki, we feel that our strategy and the policy of supporting the co-capital and Central Macedonia, the promotion of its port are justified. Thessaloniki as a home port and of course, the upgrade of Macedonia Airport.

The combination of investments made in hotel units, the upgrading of health stores and the support of the commercial world, comes to give a resounding and strong message of further development for the tourism product, which we always want to share with the average Greek family.

At the same time, after the announcement of the hoteliers of the city, I want to say that on the one hand the Ministry of Tourism and the Government are always by their side and willing to support and help in any problem that may arise, on the other hand that the need for vaccinations, the need to to go further and complete our vaccination program, it becomes once again absolutely necessary so that we can safely welcome travelers from both Greece and abroad.

For the first time in history, the Ministry of Tourism and EOT will campaign in a few days for the winter destinations, the mountain destinations in all the Regions of the country. And immediately after that will follow a campaign for the city break for Athens and Thessaloniki.

As you know, the reason for me to go up to Thessaloniki today is the extremely important donation made to the city and to Theagenio Hospital by Mrs. Marianna Latsi, which we signed together a year ago.

This is the Day Care Unit for oncology patients “Nikos Kourkoulos”, which is now part of Theagenio Hospital and will serve patients from all over Northern Greece.

“A very important project for those people who do not have, for those people who can not, for those people who want our support and help.”
