The Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been and will be in favor of free and fair competition “free and fair competition” in the whole range of business and operational activities, emphasizes in his article in AMPE the President of EBEP & PES Attica, Vassilis Korkidis.
From this it is obvious that the exception, which is probably aimed at strengthening the regions, from the state aid of the Central, North and South sector of the Attica Region, creates two-speed data and therefore distorts the fair conditions of competition. This will have a significant impact on the development of entrepreneurship. For this reason, the Piraeus Chamber, despite the fact that it has no responsibility in the excluded areas, suggested that a pre-diagnosis of the expected effects should be made and a package of proposals should be formulated, as compensation for the new conditions.
Indicatively it is pointed out that, an increase of the aid limit of the De Minimis Can be requested but also new programs for Attica with prior notification for granting approval to the Community. It was also proposed by the Chamber to allow companies to exhaust the limits of the Regional Aid Charter regardless of incentive and not to 80% as reflected in the new law, as the other Member States are not expected to reduce the relevant aid rates. , something that will have the consequence, to review taken decisions of investors for professional activity in our country.
The segregation is due to the criterion of “per capita income” in the three sectors of the Attica Region, but also carries the risk of sending the wrong message to those interested in investing in companies located in the excluded sectors with whatever this may entail. We must not lose sight of the fact that in the exception zones, which have been included in the fire-affected and flood-affected areas of Attica, the possibility of granting the incentive of the subsidy should be provided to all companies and not only to small ones in order to recover economic activity in these areas through a special aid scheme.
It must be understood that every investment means new jobs. And new jobs mean that on the one hand the productive fabric is strengthened, and on the other hand, the domestic capacity is strengthened in a period where it is in demand. The new development law cures pathogens of the past and does not restrict the participation of small businesses. In fact, it is expected to give new characteristics to investments, growth, job creation, growth and dynamics of small and medium enterprises and to bring back a new era of “brain gain”.
As entrepreneurship is a multidimensional concept, with a dynamic response to the economic life of the country the framework of the law will allow the whole business community without exclusions, I repeat without exclusions, to design, develop and implement its initiatives with modern forms of investment in dynamic sectors of the Greek economy.
In this critical period, the strengthening of the development of our country’s economy by creating a faster and more flexible pro-investment environment with the main axis of strengthening competitiveness is more than necessary. Aid that all businesses need. After all, in the circular economy there are no bypasses and sometimes the “centrifugal forces” can prove to be wrong in the economic geography of growth and investment.
