V. Korkidis: Entrepreneurs must be aware of the damage caused by accuracy in the economy

“The success of restraining accuracy depends on the simultaneous operation of the entire audit program and the utilization of the entire range of market intervention tools, but, in my view, will play a catalytic role, before costing, to realize the extent of the damage that makes accuracy in economics “.

This is emphasized in a statement by the president of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vassilis Korkidis.

The chamber said in a statement that the business community was “anxiously watching” the effects of the protracted energy crisis on households and businesses, which were being hit hard by the war in Ukraine.

According to the announcement: inflationary pressures continue unabated, with family budgets derailing. Businesses are required to cope with particularly high operating costs with additional charges of 20-40%, at a time when the purchasing power of consumers is constantly declining. Most of the income is now spent on basic necessities, such as buying food, refueling, and paying electricity or gas bills. The government, so far, is trying, through the initiatives it takes, to reduce the effects of the energy crisis on households and businesses. Aid that must continue as long as the energy crisis lasts. The big question that no one can answer anymore is how long this great energy crisis will last. That is why a European solution is needed. For their part, businesses are acrobatic on a tightrope, with the future for many of them uncertain. Businesses that have managed, after almost 12 years of financial, health and now energy crisis, to remain standing. The war in Ukraine, however, has worsened the situation by changing the balances on the trade map, with many Greek companies looking for new markets to ensure their adequacy. Now, the companies are making their plans looking for, on the one hand, new markets to supply, mainly, raw materials imported from Russia and Ukraine, and, on the other hand, making every effort to keep costs at levels that Greeks can pay. consumers. This is a divisive equation as now even countries with significant stocks of raw materials have cut off or significantly reduced their exports to ensure their own adequacy in the event of a long war in Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine has radically changed the world grain trade. Orders from Ukraine and Russia have been canceled, while large cargoes remain “trapped” on ships in the Black Sea. The flour mills are in a constant search for flour from other countries, however, the high cost is a significant “thorn”. Orders are already being placed to supply large quantities of flour from countries such as Latvia, Poland, Germany, France, the United States of America and Canada. According to data, the largest producers of flour are Germany, Thailand, Belgium, Turkey, France, Vietnam, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and China. On the plus side, however, there is no adequacy problem so far. There are countries that produce significant quantities that can ensure adequacy in our country as well. However, the cost of supplying flour from these countries is extremely high. It is noted that the price of wheat has doubled in one year, setting historical records. Exorbitant price increases, which have already been perceived by consumers. The prices of flour, in fact, entail the cost of many basic goods, such as bread and spaghetti. However, there is anxiety for the next wheat growing season next summer, as it will be almost impossible to cultivate the vast areas of wheat in Ukraine, while exports from Russia are also in doubt.

There is a big problem with feed imports because of the war in Ukraine, both in terms of raw materials, such as corn used for animal feed by breeders, and for ready-made feed intended for pets. . Commercial companies have been targeting countries from which they can place orders for several days now. Search, which is particularly complicated, as several countries have stopped exporting feed to ensure their own sufficiency. Countries such as Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia, from which we could import feed, have cut off exports in order to ensure their own adequacy. It is noted that the largest exporters of animal feed in the world are, respectively, the Netherlands, Germany, America, France, China, Thailand, Belgium, Poland, England and Canada. Countries from which Greek imports to our country can increase. The search for new markets has resulted in a significant increase in feed costs, causing a chain reaction in a number of products, such as meat and milk.

Fertilizer imports are under strong pressure, as Russia is the world’s largest exporter, with a total value of more than 6.1 billion euros. In fact, the problem is exacerbated by China, the world’s second-largest fertilizer exporter, which has severely curtailed exports. The problem is unsolvable since, due to the energy crisis, factories closed, while some others reduced their production. Canada, the United States, Morocco, Belarus, the Netherlands, Belgium, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are also major exporters of fertilizers.

Statement

The president of EVEP Vassilis Korkidis, regarding the 7 checks for the suspension of accuracy, stated:

“The hoarseness of precision requires, both the measures taken by the government and their implementation by the companies. Also, as entrepreneurship receives financial support, it must respectively facilitate controls and government interventions against accuracy. OP has discussed, with its member companies, the 7 audits required in the next period and has proposed their implementation, in order to protect industry, trade and services from the challenges of the necessary and to avoid opportunistic The first audit is the declaration of stocks of specific goods with a special platform for recording, monitoring and management. The second audit is the application of a ceiling, setting limits on reasonable price signaling, associated with the third, to avoid unexpected gains windfall profits. The fourth is production mapping, according to the Economic Intelligence Platform provides for ex-officio research to stimulate price increases. The sixth concerns the suggestions of industry experts for market supply arrhythmia and finally the seventh audit is the implementation of regulatory acts by competent ministries and independent authorities. The success of the accuracy check depends on the simultaneous operation of the entire control program and the utilization of the whole range of market intervention tools, but, in my opinion, it will play a catalytic role, before we cost, to realize the extent of the damage it does accuracy in economics. ”
