Three months after the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) approved vaccination against Covid-19 for children between three and four years old – initially with Coronavac and later with Pfizer -, data from the LocalizaSUS portal, from the Ministry of Health , show that 13.7% of this target audience received the first dose and 3.9% the second dose. Among the capitals, there is a disparity in coverage, according to a survey carried out by the CNN .
While Vitória (ES) leads the vaccination coverage, with 35% of this target audience with the first dose and 15% also with the second, Cuiabá (MT) reported that it received immunizations in the last week and started the application on Monday (10 ).
“The capital received only 3,000 vaccines, intended for the first and second doses. As it started this week, the amount of application is still very low”, disclosed the capital of Mato Grosso.
In the survey carried out by CNN next to the city halls of the capitals, with the response of 14 of them, São Paulo (SP) appears in second place in the advance of coverage, with 33.5% of the public with the first dose and 7.6% with the second. In São Paulo, the campaign for this group began on August 20.
Rio de Janeiro, on the other hand, was the pioneer capital of the country to start the immunization of the group of three and four years old, on July 15, and currently registers 24.8% of this public with the first dose.
Aracaju (SE), with 29.99% with the 1st dose, and Recife (PE), with 22.85% also with the 1st dose, also surpassed the mark of a fifth of those vaccinated. The capital of Pernambuco announced that, since September 21, immunization has been carried out in only four places in the country due to the “delay in the delivery of Coronavac by the Ministry of Health.”
The Federal District also pointed out that it has already communicated the ministry about “the need for more doses” to take care of the public of 77,660 children aged three and four years. In the city, coverage is 7.7% in the 1st dose and 1.58% in the 2nd dose. THE CNN questioned the Union about the purchase and distribution of vaccines and awaits a return.
Still in the Midwest, in Campo Grande (MS), just over 10% of the target audience received their first dose. To expand this audience, the city says it has developed strategies, such as an active search directly in homes and itinerant vaccination in schools and malls.
In the South, in Porto Alegre (RS), coverage is 16.8% with the 1st dose and 6.2% with the 2nd. In Belo Horizonte (MG), where the application started on September 29, for the time being, vaccination benefits four-year-olds with and without immunocompromised and three-year-old immunocompromised children, with 19.7% coverage in this population with the 1st dose.
Maceió (AL) is close to 10% (9.68%) of children vaccinated with the 1st dose and 1.9% with the 2nd. Fortaleza only reported that it applied 12,155 doses, without detailing the coverage, as well as São Luís (MA), with 3,100 doses.
In the North, Palmas (TO) announced that it has the accounting system for immunized people out of the air, but that “vaccination coverage against Covid-19 in children aged three and four is low”. The prefecture informed that it develops actions to reach this public.
