Vaccination of AstraZeneca vaccine postponed in Thailand

The plan provided by the Prime Minister was canceled Thailand Prayut Chan-o-Cha and members of his government would receive his doses vaccine AstraZeneca for the new coronavirus, as the authorities will delay the start of immunization with the product of the Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical company due to the occurrence of blood clots in European countries.

Prasit Watanapa, a senior official at Siriraj Hospital, confirmed in a press conference given by the Thai Ministry of Health that start of vaccinations will be delayed, after their suspension in Denmark, τη Norway and Iceland.

Yesterday the Austria discontinued the use of vaccines from a specific batch AstraZeneca for the duration of the investigation into death due to a blood clot and a case of pulmonary embolism. Four other countries (Estonia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia) have discontinued the use of vaccines from that batch.

“Although the quality of the vaccine is good, some countries have decided (to give it) to suspend it” and “we will postpone it too,” said Professor Piyasacol Sacolsadiandorn, an adviser to the committee tasked with coordinating the immunization in the Asian country.
