Vaccinations by family doctors after Easter in Germany

Next week 35,000 family doctors in Germany will receive approximately 940,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine, Health Minister Jens Spann recently announced and assured that by the end of the month, more than three million vaccinations will be administered weekly.

“This is not a big step yet, but it is very important,” Mr. Span said during a press conference, adding that with the inclusion of family doctors in the vaccination process, “we will be vaccinated more and sooner,” as reported by AMPE. .

As the minister explained, from next week BioNTech / Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines to be delivered. The Moderna vaccine, he explained, will currently be given only to vaccination centers, as it is considered safer to avoid its second transfer. Furthermore, AstraZeneca vaccine will not be given to people under the age of 60 in private clinics, except in vaccination centers and hospitals. Despite the general instruction not to be administered to persons under 60 years of age, one can be vaccinated if one chooses to do so.

Regarding the production problems announced by Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Span assured that they are not expected to affect the program vaccinations in Germany, as they concern factories that do not ship to Europe.
