Vaccines cut, the EU could requisition doses in Big Pharma plants

Cutting vaccines: we move to the hard way. Brussels can’t wait any longer e the issue infuriates the European Union. And it does so to the point that, according to what the Republic reports, the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, in a letter launches the idea of committing vaccines produced in Big Pharma plants throughout the Union.

The proposal made by Michel is the response to the four heads of state and government who last week had asked him in writing to work at a solution to the delay with which manufacturers are delivering vaccines to EU governments.

Referring to the clashes between Europe and pharmaceutical companies on delivery cuts, Michel writes: «If we do not find a satisfactory solution, I believe we should explore all options and make use of all legal means and coercive measures available in the treaties “.

Which would be, as he says a little further on, recourse to Article 122 which precisely provides for the requisition of the products necessary to overcome an exceptional circumstance.

At the moment it is only a possibility put in place. In the next few hours it will be understood whether the Union will really use this weapon or if it will only use it to put pressure on pharmaceutical companies.

The suspicion is that the cut-off of vaccines is caused not as claimed by technical reasons, but by the sale of doses booked by the European Commission on behalf of EU governments abroad, in the UK, America and other continents.
