Vale creates Vale Ventures to invest in startups focused on sustainable solutions

Vale announced this Wednesday the creation of Vale Ventures, its Corporate Venture Capital initiative, to invest in pioneering startups across the globe, creating new business opportunities and innovative technologies to incorporate into its operations.

The company is committing capital of US$ 100 million (approximately R$ 500 million) for investment.

In a statement, the mining company says that to support the transition to a more sustainable world, this new initiative will acquire minority stakes in startups focused on four themes: Decarbonization in the mining chain, Mining without waste, Energy transition metals and mining of the future, investing in new technologies.

“We will collaborate with forward-thinking startups that bring big ideas and bold thinking to these monumental challenges,” says Vale Ventures leader Viktor Moszkowicz in the note.

“By putting together a portfolio of disruptive solutions, we can generate financial and strategic returns, creating new business opportunities, insights and knowledge for Vale, customers and society,” he adds.
