Vale estimates production of 310mt of iron ore in 2022

The iron ore production of the mining company Vale, next year, should remain in line with current levels, between 310 and 320 million tons. For this year, the estimate is to close at 310 million tons.

For pellets and briquettes, it should increase from 33 million tons in 2022 to between 36 and 40 million tons in 2023. The information was filed this Wednesday (7) by the company at the Brazilian Securities Commission (CVM) ).

Nickel production should fall from around 180 million tons this year to between 160 and 175 million tons. Copper goes from 260 million tons to 335 to 370 million tons. The two base metals are an important bet for the company for the coming years.

In a longer horizon, iron ore should record higher volumes, according to projections. In 2026, the mining company should produce between 340 and 360 million tons, moving on to numbers above this ceiling (360 million tons) from 2030.

Likewise, pellets and briquettes should also see sharp growth in volumes from 2026, when Vale expects to deliver between 50 and 55 million tons. As of 2030, production should be around 100 million tons.

For base metals, the expectation is also for a more accentuated advance: 230 to 245 million tons for nickel and 390 to 420 million tons for copper in 2026. From 2030, nickel should be above 300 million tons tons and copper, around 900 million tons.
