The Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy said that only after the law on limiting the free circulation of cryptocurrency, which is stalled in the State Duma, is adopted, will it be possible to establish OKVED codes and taxation standards for mining.

Valery Seleznev, during the discussion “Industrial mining – a strategic direction for international cooperation” within the framework of the International Economic Forum (SPIEF) taking place in St. Petersburg, said that the country needs to catch up with “the technological agenda, from mining to artificial intelligence.”

“The state will create preferences for miners, but only after the appearance of the appropriate regulatory framework. And we have to accept: assets obtained through calculations are the subject of deep processing of primary energy resources and do not require an overly powerful infrastructure.”

The deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy noted that the lower house of parliament will not have time to vote on the notorious bill during the spring session. Reason: he received a negative review from the legal department of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Duma lawyers insisted that the project must first be agreed upon by the Central Bank.

Earlier at SPIEF 2024, the head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, Anatoly Aksakov, called on the authorities to speed up the adoption of a law on the regulation of cryptocurrencies and mining. The deputy is the headliner of the group of authors of the bill.
