Van Gogh’s work through the eyes of contemporary artists

An exhibition entitled “Inventing Van Gogh”, which aims to keep his spirit alive Vincent van Gogh, will take place at the Vincent van GoghHuis Museum in Zundert, the Netherlands from August 14 to December 5.

Ron Dirven, the museum’s director and curator, commissioned works by contemporary artists who are re-envisioning the motifs that are the trademark of the legendary post-impressionist painter.

“I asked Van Empel to create fantastic portraits of Van Gogh and personal interpretations of his famous still lifes and landscapes,” Dirven told Artnet News. “Working with him as a specialist on Van Gogh and giving him the information he needed was the biggest challenge for me.”

“Van Empel creates images on his computer that bring to mind a whole new reality. Although they are sometimes strange and annoying, they always adopt a supernatural beauty and have their own strong trademark. He has an eye for the smallest detail in the composition, which he completes meticulously and with great skill, “he said, referring to the artist who gives a new way to experience the work of Vincent van Gogh.
