United States Vice President Jd Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are meeting with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to a Vancer spokesman.
The meeting takes place while President Donald Trump’s government continues his hesitant efforts to mediate peace between Russia and Ukraine. And it’s a day before Trump talks about the war with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone.
Trump should also talk to Zelensky after his connection with Putin.
Vance, Rubio, Zelensky and Andriy Yermak, chief of the Ukrainian President’s office, are gathering at Villa Taverna, residence of the US ambassador in Italy.
Vance and Rubio traveled to Rome this weekend for the start of the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV.
