Vatican: New investigations begin into the disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi at the request of Pope Francis

His justice affairs officer VaticanAlessandro Didi, decided that the Holy See will carry out new investigations, regarding the case of the disappearance of Emanuela Orlanti.

It is about a girl who he had disappeared on June 22, 1983, when he was sixteen years old, while attending a music lesson, in the center of Rome. Her father was an employee of the Vatican state and the searches, all these years, did not lead to any meaningful results.

According to the press, some of the assumptions made are that the disappearance of Orlandi may have been connected to people who in 1981 were involved in the assassination attempt of John Paul II, by the action of the criminal organization of Rome “Banda della Maliana” or that the girl may even have been transferred to a nunnery.

As reported by the Italian news agency AdnKronos and relayed by the Athens News Agency, the Pope Francisrequested that investigations be reopened and that all testimony, evidence and any possible connections be re-examined.

Emanuela Orlandi’s family is asking for justice

The family of Emanuela Orlandi, all these years, has continued to ask the justice of Italy and the Vatican, not to stop working on the case, until substantial and definitive answers are obtained. This new initiative of the Holy See, as it was leaked, is connected to the general will of Francis for transparency and virtuous management of the papal state.
