Vehicle sales showed signs of accommodation in June, after two months of recovery, with the market falling 4.81% last month compared to May.
In comparison with the same month of 2021, the drop was 2.39%, according to the balance released this Tuesday (5) by Fenabrave, the association that represents the concessionaires.
In total, 178,063 units were sold last month, including passenger cars, light utility vehicles, such as pickups and vans, trucks and buses.
The daily pace was close to that recorded in May, so far the best result of the year, but the June calendar, with one day less sales, contributed to a greater difference between the two months.
As a result, vehicle sales have accumulated 1,073,937 units since the first day of the year, 14.53% less than in the first six months of 2021, when the volume passed the 1 million mark.
Supply difficulties in the industry continued in June, leading to stoppages for days to weeks due to lack of parts, mainly electronic components, in factories of the three largest automakers in the country: Fiat, Volkswagen and General Motors.
The lockdowns due to China’s ‘Covid-zero’ policy have exacerbated the irregularity in supply by not only restricting exports of Chinese products, but also limiting the supply of ships and containers for the transport of materials from other origins, given the congestion. of vessels caused by the closure of ports in the Asian giant.
The interruptions in the car industry continue in July, with the shutdown this week at Nissan’s plant in Resende, in the south of Rio de Janeiro, and the three-week vacation granted yesterday by Volkswagen in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, where it is mounted the T-Cross sport utility vehicle.
Volks will also reduce by 24% the working day, and by 12% the wages, on the return, scheduled for Thursday (7), of workers who are on vacation for ten days in São Bernardo do Campo. In São Paulo’s ABC region, the automaker produces the Polo, Virtus, Nivus and Saveiro models.
