It happened last night, around 10.40pm. A terrifying roar, and a balcony in the Vela Celeste, in the Scampia district, on the northern outskirts of Naples, collapseddragging the other two from the floors below: a man and a woman died and 13 people, including 7 children, were injured.
Roberto Abbruzzo, 29, died instantly. He was a butcher and was well known in the area. He leaves behind a wife and a two-year-old daughter. Margherita Della Ragione, 35 years old, died during the night due to cardiac arrest, following the serious injuries he suffered. The seven children involved are aged between 2 and 10 years old.and they are all in red code. Among them, two little girls were admitted to intensive care.

The firefighters are checking the stability of the building as a whole. Based on the results, they will decide who will be allowed to return to the apartments. The entire Vela area affected by the collapse has been evacuatedwhile in the part that remained intact it was still transit on the landings is prohibited until the checks are completed. The Vela Celeste has been cordoned off, and anti-looting services have been arranged, as is standard practice, to prevent anyone from entering the apartments to rob them.
