The wake of singer Marília Mendonça and her uncle and advisor, Abicieli Silveira Dias Filho, began shortly before 1 pm this Saturday (6), in Goiânia, in a ceremony initially restricted to family and friends.
The bodies of the two arrived in Goiás around 10:25 am and are being held in the Goiânia Arena gym. The singers Maiara and Maraisa, very close to Marília, besides Henrique and Juliano, Jorge (from the duo Jorge & Mateus) and Mateus (from the duo Matheus & Kauan) are already there to say goodbye to the artist.
Around 1:15 pm the ceremony was opened for the public to pay homage. About 100,000 people are expected on site, which must receive the population at least until 4 pm.
According to the Municipal Mobility Department of the capital of Goiás, there will be a procession from the Goiânia Arena gym to the Parque Memorial Cemetery. The burial, which will only include family members, is scheduled for 5:30 pm, but can be postponed so that the public in the gym can say goodbye.
“Goianos will be able to pay a beautiful tribute. I ask for calm and respect for the signs so that everyone can say their goodbyes. Initial forecast of up to 100,000 people passing through the site”, said the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (DEM), on Friday (5) being published on social media.
The artist and four other people died in a plane crash on Friday (5), in Minas Gerais. The aircraft pilot, Geraldo Martins de Medeiros, and the co-pilot, Tarciso Pessoa Viana, are also among the victims of the tragedy.
Enhanced security
The Goiânia City Hall will reinforce traffic inspection and guidance to drivers in the Goiânia Arena gymnasium region due to the wake. The North parking lot of the Serra Dourada stadium will be free for public vehicles. The entrance of the authorities will be through the south access. The main entrance to the Gym Arena will be for pedestrians only.
Agents, with six vehicles and four motorcycles, will be positioned at the following points for road control and pedestrian safety:
- Avenida L x North Gate of the Serra Dourada Stadium parking lot
- 77 x 72 Street signpost
- Cruzamento da Av. Fued José Sebba x Av. Olinda x Avenida L
- Fued José Sebba Avenue x Rua 31 x 32
The accident
The accident happened in Piedade de Caratinga, in Vale do Rio Doce, in the west of Minas Gerais. The plane crashed at a distance of three kilometers from the airport in Caratinga, the city where the singer would perform.
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and the Civil Police of Minas Gerais are investigating the accident.
