Venezuela has temporarily closed its borders with neighboring countries, including Colombia, as part of security measures before regional and parliamentary elections scheduled for this Sunday, May 25.
The closure of the currency between countries, ordered by the Mature regime through a joint resolution of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Relations, Justice and Peace of Venezuela, begins at 12:01 am on Friday (23) and will remain in force until 11:59 pm on Monday (26).
On Friday (23), dozens of travelers were seen waiting with luggage on the bridge of the border between Colombia and Venezuela, in Cucuta, some of them unknowingly the time of closing.
Border closure is part of Venezuela’s standard protocol during electoral processes.
Border crossings are expected to be reopened after the counting of the votes.
