Venezuela deliver veteran of the US Air Force that was arrested

A United States Air Force veteran was released from a prison in Venezuela, according to a member of Donald Trump’s government and the former military’s family.

The man, identified as Joseph St. Clair, has been arrested since November and was handed over to US special envoy Richard Grenell, according to a statement issued on Tuesday (20).

“This news has come suddenly, and we are still suing, but we are full of joy and gratitude,” said his family, Scott and Patti St. Clair.
Venezuela Information Minister Freddy ñánez told Reuters that the former saleswoman’s delivery to Trump’s envoy was held on Antigua’s Caribbean island.

The news was confirmed by him after the far right activist, Laura Loomer, claiming that St. Clair was on her way to the United States with Grenell.

“Correct,” answered ñáñez.

Prior to release, Bloomberg revealed, keeping the source under reserve, which Grenell traveled to Antigua to meet members of the Maduro regime and negotiate the height of at least one prisoner in Venezuela.

The counterpart would be the length for 60 days of the license for the US oil company Chevron to operate in the country. Two sources confirmed to Reuters that Grenell met with Jorge Rodríguez, leader of the Venezuelan parliament and that the American would have offered the extension, which would still have to be approved by the US Treasury and State Departments.

In January, Grenell was in Caracas, and after a meeting with Maduro returned to the US bringing six Americans who were arrested in Venezuela.

Family Request

Prisoners’ families in Venezuela gathered virtually earlier this month with members of the US government. Days earlier, the veteran’s mother expressed being concerned about her son’s situation, stating that he suffers from severe posttraumatic disorder.

“Can you imagine your fear? Can you imagine the loneliness you should feel fighting your invisible scars in a foreign arrest, not knowing if help is on your way?” She asked in an event titled “Bring Our Families Home” (bring our families home) in Washington.

Ella asked Trump and the US Congress to work soon to save Joe and other prisoners from the Venezuelan regime.
