The day after the presidential elections in Venezuela was marked by numerous protests across the country.
The NGO Laboratorio de Paz has geographically located at least 210 demonstrations throughout Venezuelan territory.
A CNN could not verify this geolocation.
According to the Peace Laboratory, “the demonstrations took place in front of the headquarters of municipal and regional authorities, as well as in front of the offices of the National Electoral Council (CNE)”.
The NGO also reported that 8 statues were toppled, 7 of them of Hugo Chávez, and that the headquarters of the mayors and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) were burned.
“The protests were self-convened, spontaneous and decentralized. They did not have a single focus of interest, nor pre-determined routes from one point to another in the territories,” said the Peace Laboratory.
“The main requirement diagnosed was to reject the illegal proclamation of Nicolás Maduro and demand the triumph of Edmundo González Urrutia,” according to the NGO.
