The website of Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE) went back online on Monday (26), almost a month after the presidential elections on July 28, but without the results of the election.
The page remained offline after the election. Although electoral authorities have not spoken directly about the site, they have stated that the CNE was the target of cyberattacks, but no evidence has been presented to the public.
When accessing the website this Monday (26), it is possible to initially see a statement in which the CNE informs that it has been formally notified of the decision of the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) that accepted as valid the announced results that gave victory to President Nicolás Maduro in the election.
The opposition and most of the international community question Maduro’s declaration of victory.
The electoral council added in the statement that it will comply “within the law” with the publication of the results, in accordance with the court ruling.
THE CNN tries to get comments from the CNE about the website and the publication of the results.
