So, a performance changed the course of their existence forever, making the four a unicum without no precedent. Led Zeppelin, whose individual stories, before Stairway to heaven and the Dragon guitar, reconstructed in Bernard MacMahon’s documentary, would have conquered the United States, Europe, the whole world.
“With Becoming Led Zeppelin, my goal was to make a documentary that looked like a musical“, Explained the director,” I wanted to intertwine the four stories of the members of the band, before and after the foundation of the group, with large parts in which the story of Led Zeppelin is told only through the use of music and images, in order to contextualize their sound in the places where it was created and in the situations that inspired it. I used only original films and negatives, with over 70,000 manually restored stock frames, as well as fantasy sequences inspired by Singin’ in the rain, where unprecedented moments of live performances are superimposed on images of posters, tickets and travels, wanting to recreate that sense of frenzy that marked that phase of their career ».
