According to The Block, the second quarter of 2021 turned out to be extremely productive for venture capitalists – in just three months a record amount of $ 6.2 billion was invested in cryptocurrency projects.
Note that the first quarter of 2021 was also a record for this indicator, but the second quarter was even more successful. If in the first quarter venture capital firms invested $ 3.27 billion in cryptocurrency companies, then in the second quarter the figure increased by another 90%.
The Block analyst John Dantoni said that venture capital firms are trying to invest in cryptocurrency projects at an early stage of their development. Thus, 171 investments were made at an early stage, and 202 deals were concluded at the very first stage of fundraising.
The greatest interest among venture capital firms was attracted by cryptocurrency firms operating in the field of financial services, as well as companies focused on infrastructure development.
Earlier it was reported that the British venture capital fund Marshall Wace plans to invest in the cryptocurrency industry. Moreover, we are talking about both investments in companies working in this area and the direct purchase of cryptocurrencies.
