Venus Optics has announced three new lens variants. These are the 24mm F14 2x Macro Probe, 4mm F2.8 Fisheye and 9mm F2.8 Zero-D models. Starting November 5, they will be available with Canon RF and Nikon Z mounts. Technical specifications, excluding those determined by mount design, remain the same as previously available options.
The full-frame Laowa 4mm F2.8 Fisheye manual focus lens consists of seven elements in six groups. The seven-blade aperture can be adjusted from f / 2.8 to f / 16. The closest focusing distance is 80 cm. It weighs approximately 135 g.
The Laowa 9mm F2.8 Zero-D lens is part of the Zero Distortion line. Models included in it are characterized by minimal distortion. The Laowa 9mm F2.8 Zero-D lens consists of 15 elements in 10 groups, including 3 extra-low dispersion elements, 2 aspherical elements, and Venus Optics Frog Eye Coating on the front element to protect against contamination. The aperture range is f / 2.8-f / 22. The minimum focusing distance is 12 cm and the lens weighs 215 g. It focuses manually.
Perhaps the most unusual is the Laowa 24mm F14 2x Macro Probe. The probe lens is suitable for both video and photography. It consists of 27 elements in 19 groups. The diaphragm is formed by seven blades. It takes on f / 14- f / 40 values. The lens is manually focused. The minimum focusing distance is 470 mm, but taking into account the length of the lens itself and the flange distance, the minimum distance to the object is close to 20 mm. This achieves an increase of 2: 1. The lens weighs about 470 g. There is a ring LED lamp at its end.
The new Laowa 24mm F14 2x Macro Probe, 4mm F2.8 Fisheye and 9mm F2.8 Zero-D lens options will retail for $ 1950, $ 650 and $ 250 respectively, which is in line with the other options.
