Veoneer, a Swedish automotive technology company, and US chipmaker Qualcomm have signed a cooperation agreement to develop hardware and software for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The partners first announced plans to join forces in August last year. The jointly created platform is expected to compete with products from companies such as Intel Mobileye.

Veoneer, which also manufactures radar and vision systems, said it has formed a dedicated division called Arriver. Its mission is to develop a complete software stack for environmental sensing and motion control.
“Today’s agreement with Qualcomm Technologies and the creation of Arriver are key milestones in Veoneer’s development,” Veoneer’s CEO Jan Carlson said in a statement.
What’s more, according to Veoneer, the Arriver software already runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride Platform, “which will be available to automotive customers in the coming months.” The first fruits of the collaboration, including preliminary specifications and platform capabilities, have been presented to a number of top-tier automakers and have received positive reviews.
