THE main trio of the film adaptation of “Verity” has been confirmed. According to Deadline, Dakota Johnson (“Fifty Shades of Grey”) and Josh Hartnett (“Pearl Harbor’) joined Anne Hathaway in the film’s cast.
More information about the production, such as director, start of recording and expected release date, have not yet been revealed.
In the plot, best-selling writer Verity Crawford suffers an accident that leaves her unable to complete a story. As a result, Lowen Ashleigh, a writer on the verge of bankruptcy, is invited to write, under a pseudonym, the three remaining books in the already consolidated series. She then decides to spend a few days at the Crawford house, where she finds a kind of autobiography in which the writer narrates the events that happened from the day she met Jeremy, her husband, until the moments before her accident.
“Verity” It spent weeks on The New York Times bestseller list and sold more than a million in one year. In Brazil, published by Galera Record, it was the sixth best-selling fiction book in 2023. Currently, the work is part of the Top 10 for the 1st half of 2024 – Hoover has four titles in the ranking.
The thriller will be Colleen Hoover’s second book adapted for the big screen, but two others have already been confirmed, “If It Wasn’t For You” and “A Second Chance”. This year, the film “This Is How It Ends” premiered in theaters.
THE CNN Hoover, who recently saw “That’s How It Ends” come to life on movie screens, revealed that she is excited about adapting the thriller.
“I think Blake [Lively] and the team did a great job adapting [‘É Assim Que Acaba’]so it makes me really excited to move forward with other books. I’m really excited that ‘Verity’ is about to be adapted. I’m so happy to be able to see it come to life on screen.”
“I’m personally a fan of suspense. It will be such a different project from this one. Going from such a tragic and emotional love story to a really dark thriller. It will be interesting,” he added.
