The deputy stated, referring to his own sources that Zelensky suspended the consideration of the document for an indefinite period – the project disappeared from the legislative agenda of the Verkhovna Rada after a meeting in the presidential office.
“For those who follow the bill on the legalization of cryptocurrencies in Ukraine, I have bad news – in the near future it will not be. Its consideration is blocked, ”wrote Zheleznyak in his telegram channel.
The parliamentarian is convinced that the chairman of the National Commission on Securities and the Stock Market of Ukraine (NKCBFR) Ruslan Magomedov, through the head of the office of the presidential office Andrei Yermak, influenced the Parliamentar.
Magomedov insisted that the bill does not comply with the requirements of the law on the regulation of cryptocurrencies in the European Union (Mica), since the regulator will not be able to determine tokenized securities. The inconsistency of the regulations of different countries can interfere with the integration of Ukraine with the European Union, fears Magomedov. He said that the bill has not yet been approved by the Council for the financial stability of Ukraine and “foreign partners”.
The bill contains provisions that allow suppliers of virtual assets to work in the country without a license. Magomedov believes that this will create a loophole that can be used by Russian financial institutions registered in other countries.
Zheleznyak claims that Magomedov’s remarks under the bill were significant enough for the recall, and the NKTSBFR could be the only stategangana involved in the General’s tough actions. The Ministry of Finance, the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine (GSFMU) and the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) also had their own claims to the bill, but the departments were ready to submit them in the form of amendments to the second reading of the document, without blocking the legislative process.
Ironyak is sure that the lack of cryptocurrency regulation is harmful to the state that could collect taxes from cryptocurrency transactions, and a crypto that develops too slowly. The Verkhovna Rada deputy promised to fight for the adoption of the bill.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Daniil Getmantsev promised that cryptocurrencies would be legalized in the first half of 2025. In April, the Ukrainian financial regulator proposed levying a military fee of 5%from crypto traders.
