Zlatan Vasiljevic, 42, Bosnian origins residing in the Vicenza area, on Wednesday 8 June he elegantly dressed in a dark jacket to put into practice a long-premeditated murderous plan: a double femicide. He killed his ex-wife first, then his current girlfriend, and finally took his own life after throwing grenades at the highway.
The victims are Lidija Miljkovicforty-two of Serbian descent whom Vasiljevic had married in 2005, e Gabriela Serrano, a thirty-six year old Venezuelan who lived in the Padua area. The story with the former ended a few years ago. She, tired of the constant violence, had decided to leave him and report him. He had been arrested, but had returned to bail after having undergone a course of therapy in a facility in Bassano, as reported in the Venetian edition of the Corriere della Sera. The 2019 ordinance lists kicks, thrusts, knives, tranquilizers forcibly swallowed, blows to the head and threats even to children who are now 16 and 13 years old.
Vasiljevic hit his wife after she had just taken the children to school and was on her way to work. He then took the car to probably try to escape with Gabriela Serrano. There were suitcases in the trunk. In the middle of the afternoon, the police identified the car in a lay-by along the Vicenza ring road. The corpses of the new partner’s man were in the back seat.

The ban on approaching ordered after release and house arrest served no purpose. Neither was the final sentence of one year and six months for one of the episodes of mistreatment. “I would like judges and social workers to come to Lidia’s funeral and take a good look at that coffin,” said Daniele Mondello. “Just three weeks ago the separation sentence was passed. Do you know what it established? The termination of the exclusive custody of the children aged 13 and 16 to Lidia. For everything it was necessary to mediate with the father: school, free time, medicine. He has never paid alimony ».

According to Daniele Mondello there is a system to impeach. «The only problem, for everyone, was to bring the children closer to their father, even if he didn’t want them. They questioned that Lidia was a good mother, they assumed that I could endanger them with my presence. But I, before becoming Lidia’s companion, am also a colleague of her. I know the ordeal she went through with that man: an ordeal that never ended ».
In the first six months of 2022 there are 38 i femicides, almost one every four days. For the most part it is partners or exes who have affected wives, companions, sisters, daughters.
