A moment of despair was recorded by the body cameras of military police officers in the city of São José do Rio Pardo (SP), about 250 kilometers from the capital of São Paulo. A baby who turned 2 months old on Tuesday (2) ended up choking on milk and entering the process of asphyxiation.

The child was with his grandmother at around 5:10 pm when the family noticed the problem. The Military Police were immediately called and sent two teams to provide assistance using the Heimlich maneuver, a procedure used to clear the airway.
Initial assistance was provided by Private Oliveira and Corporal Emilio. Corporals Martha, Lucas, Pepe, Roberta, Fabiano and J. Pereira arrived shortly after. The agents are members of the 24th BPM/I, from São João da Boa Vista.
In the images, provided by the Military Police, it is possible to see the desperation of the family members when the agents arrive, who immediately begin the choking maneuver. After 1 minute and 2 seconds of video, the baby finally coughs and starts to cry.
The rescue was celebrated by the family and the police: “he came back conscious, he came back conscious,” said a police officer. The baby, named João, was taken to the emergency room, where he underwent tests.
