Video: Bus runs over bicycle and man narrowly escapes being hit in RJ

A bus ran over a bicycle and knocked down the app delivery person who was traveling on the side of a street in Nova Iguaçu, in Baixada Fluminense. The accident happened on Sunday afternoon (30).

In an interview with CNN the cyclist who appears in the images below Lucas Alexandre, 18 years old, reported that he left his house to pick up the first delivery of the day, when a bus that was coming at high speed hit his bicycle.

The bus involved in the incident was traveling on line 562, which goes from Pavuna, a neighborhood in the north of Rio, to Três Fontes, in the city of Queimados.

Lucas points out that the driver did not honk the horn, so he did not notice the vehicle approaching.

After the accident, the bus stopped a few meters ahead and the driver got out to check what had happened. Despite this, Lucas said that the man blamed the cyclist for the accident and left minutes later without providing any type of support.

The delivery man escaped being hit and only suffered a few bruises. The bicycle used for deliveries, which was borrowed, was not damaged. The owner asked for the vehicle back after learning of the accident.

Lucas has been working as an app delivery person for around four months and this is his only source of income currently.

So far, the company responsible for the bus has not made contact with the victim, nor has the driver.
