The Nvidia A100 accelerator was introduced a year ago. It is based on the giant GA100 GPU with 54 billion transistors and boasts 40GB of HBM2 memory.

However, such a huge amount of memory, apparently, seemed to Nvidia insufficient, so in the near future we will see the release of Nvidia A100 with double the amount of memory! Yes, the accelerator will receive 80 GB of HBM2 memory with a bandwidth of 2 TB / s.

Such a device with PCIe and SXM interfaces has already been registered in the Nvidia documentation, but there has not been an official announcement yet. There are no other details, so it is not known if the GPU configuration will change. As a reminder, the current A100 has only 6912 active CUDA cores out of 8192 GPU cores.
