A couple jumped from a moving car moments before the vehicle plunged into a cliff. The case happened last Saturday (27) on the SC-410 highway, in the municipality of São João Batista, in Santa Catarina.
Security cameras recorded the incident. In the images, which went viral on social media, it is possible to see the vehicle in motion with the passenger door open. Then a man jumps out of the car and falls to the ground. The car stops for a few seconds, while the passenger gets up and runs to the other side of the road.
The driver then crashes the car into a wall and then reverses out. Seconds later, the driver also jumps the moving vehicle, which falls down the bank. According to the Fire Department, the car fell from a height of approximately six meters. See images below .
According to the Military Highway Police (PMRv), the couple was arguing before the accident. People who witnessed what happened confirmed the information.
Firefighters reported that, after falling down the bank, the car was left hanging from trees and was at risk of falling into a river nearby. As the passengers jumped, there was no one inside the car at the time of the fall.
Witnesses stated that the couple, after the accident, walked along the highway and left the scene. According to them, the driver was bleeding from the head.
The police arrived to look for the two in the region, but a resident who spoke to the couple stated that they assured them that they did not want assistance. So far, the couple has not been identified.
