An accident caused by a driverless car, this Thursday (26), in Rio de Janeiro, caught attention on the internet. Images recorded by witnesses are circulating on social media.
The incident was recorded on Viaduto Negrão de Lima, in Madureira, in the north of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, by a driver.
In the images, a motorcyclist stops next to a white vehicle, at a traffic light, on the way down the viaduct. At this moment, the motorcyclist and driver begin to argue. See the video below.
A few seconds later, the motorcyclist takes what appears to be a stone out of his shirt and begins to destroy the car’s exterior mirror, next to the driver. The motorcyclist then throws the object at the driver.
The driver reacts and attacks the motorcyclist. When opening the car door, the biker takes off and flees the scene.
In the images you can see that the driver is barefoot, shirtless and loses his cell phone in the action, which ends up under the bus stopped in the next lane. The driver persists and runs after the motorcyclist.
Then the traffic light opens to allow the flow of cars to pass, and the traffic starts to move. The images show another man, who was inside the car.
He appears outside and tries to stop the advance of the car, which begins to descend the viaduct without a driver. His shoe breaks, and he gives up trying to stop the car from moving forward, jumping to the opposite side of the overpass.
The video continues with the driverless car, followed by some motorcyclists who avoid the runaway car. The driver of the car reappears, jumping through the window and into the vehicle. The movement is unable to avoid colliding with the wall.
The incident, according to the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ), was not registered through the Police Report.
